Despite having only been releasing music for a few months, addictive pop group Barrie are gearing up to drop their first EP Singles. The first two tracks on the release were often ambient, synth heavy and dreamy, but on ‘Michigan’ we find this group moving towards more traditional instrumentation. That being said, the vocal performance of lead singer/namesake Barrie is anything but traditional, with a laid back, hazy quality floating over the refreshingly simple accompaniment. The band converged upon Brooklyn from around the world, and ended up forming a tight chemistry, happily resulting in this excellent debut release. -Dan Peeke
